Lets start with the Good:
On Wednesday, the boys & I drove down with my parents to SLC to watch Austin swear into the Marines. I found out later that this was only a preliminary swearing in, for Austin doesn't leave for basic till April 6th-I wish I would have known that after waiting around for 2 1/2 hrs-oh well, I supported my little brother. Austin's basic date is far away because he's decided to go for the MP's and specifically try and work with the canine unit; because of this, he's got to be 19 by the time he graduates.
So here's Austin swearing in
Here's a picture of Jordan waiting around for everyone to be done
Austin standing in front of the Marine Corps Flag-look, he already looks like a soldier.
Now the Bad. My dog is a very naughty dog. She's on such a short leash, that we seriously consider about giving her to the animal shelter. We went for a walk wednesday night and left Mesha chained up at home. We got back from our walk, and there was no Mesha to greet us ie..barking. I walked back to the back of the house, followed the chain and found the dumb dog in the car. She had jumped into the car through the open window and waited till we came home. Ugggh. Stupid dog.
Now the Ugly. Because of what's happening in the economy nationally-which James & I are so p-oed about, but that's another story-there have been alot of changes at James' work. The department started firing and cutting programs this last week because the State of Utah is not getting as much money as they originally thought, therefore there's budget cuts. We were never worried about James losing his job because if you fire officers, whose going to watch the criminals. Instead, James' half-way house is going to all security. Everyone in the center will now be on 12 hr shifts working security, with the shift leaders working security and a case load. I guess now looking back, we had the luxury of James working whatever hours he wanted, thus letting him be able to go to school. James will now work Thurs-Sat graveyard shifts (7pm-7am), with a case load. Our weekends together are now gone. The only positive thing about this is that because of how the shifts work out, we'll have 4 extra hours of pay-at least that's the only positive thing I can get out of this. So that's about it. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

Hang in there Cleggs, shift work is hard to get used to, it is a lifestyle, but mostly becuase it isn't what you are used to or expecting. You still have weekends together, it just isn't Saturday and Sunday. Just make the best of what time you have, and roll with the punches! And remember, it won't last forever...at least in your case....Ours is a different story!
Welcome to blogger world! I look forward to seeing lots of posts and pictures! I can't believe how big your little guy is getting! He is a doll!
