I had no intention of going to the caselot sale on base this time around. With the kids in school, James off fishing, & my Mom working the fair, I saw no time to go wait 4-6 hrs in the sun grabbing (usually) good deals. Today I needed to go grocery shopping, and luckily my Mom was working so she was able to take me out to the base. My Dad took the boys to the fair, which the boys were excited about (and ended up having an awesome time), so I had no time constraints. We drove out to the base & headed over to the commissary. I asked my Mom, "Can we just go over & see how many people are there?" (It was about 1 pm). I drove over, and there was no one. No lines waiting to get in, no lines going through the isles, and no lines at the cash registers. My Mom & I then decided that we would walk around and see what was left, I mean, why not, there were no lines. Oh the deals! A lot of things were marked down even more because they were trying to "move" them. So even though there wasn't a whole lot of stuff, there was enough stuff & we scored big time. Between my Mom & I, we had almost $300 in coupons. How could you not feel awesome about that. Here are my fantastic finds {alot being snacks for school lunches/snacks for classrooms throughout the year):
-26 count ice cream cones- $.25/Box
-NutriGrain Bars- $1.12/box
-Poptarts $2.04-
-Fiber Plus Bars $1.50/box
-Rice Krispie Treats $2.05/box
-Frosted Flakes $1.76/box
-Minute Maid Orange Juice {thinking ahead for future road trips} $5 for the flat {24 bottles}
-Powerade $6.50 for 15 bottles
-Breakfast Pack Box {with 10 packages inside-each w/8 cereal boxes} $5.50 for the entire box {again thinking ahead for future road trips}
-Apple Jacks Box {12 boxes inside} $7
-Cheerios {12 boxes inside} $8.80
-Kelloggs Fruit Snacks Package {each package has 24 bags} $.95. This was probably the best deal of the day. They were priced at $2.95 {which was awesome in itself} but I guess they weren't moving so they took another $2 off.
I am so grateful that my Mom takes me shopping at the commissary. It seriously saves me money. I had to go shopping at Wal-mart last pay period because my Mom was busy with the fair, and my family needed food. As I was walking around Wal-mart, I would look at the prices and know that it was cheaper to buy that product at the commissary; and this was comparing Wal-mart brand to name brand. So yes, I am grateful/lucky to be able to shop with my momma and save money!
