Jaxson & Madison's Christmas Presents

Who would have thunk that it would take me this long to take & post a picture of the kids Christmas presents???

As James & I were trying to decide what to give the kids for Christmas this last year, well, we were a little lost.  Then we decided that we wanted to get Jaxson a train set, because he loves trains, and it's a toy he goes for when at Grandma Cleggs house.  I happened to find the same exact set as the Cleggs & knew we were set.  Then I was perusing blogs and came across this post.  This would be the perfect thing for James to make & it would complete Jaxson's present.

James did such an awesome job!

It was a little bigger than what I thought it would be, but after a little re-arranging in the boys bedroom, it's found a home.  It's working perfectly.

Now for Madison, well, she had just had her birthday and we weren't sure what to get a 1 yr old little girl-I mean, she didn't really need anything.  When I was looking at the Train Table instructions, I started looking around at other plans.  A while back, I had seen plans for a play kitchen, but figured that could be something for next year.  Then I saw these plans and asked James if he could build that as well.  Luckily, James was done with school & had this extra time to be a carpenter.

Again, James did a really good job.  We went for a pink theme to give Madison's room a little girly touch.  As you can see, right now, the bookcase is perfect for everything of hers.

While I'm thinking about it, James wasn't alone in the building process.  Although I would have loved to give him hand {because I love power tools and such}, somebody had to take care of the kiddos considering that this was a suprise.  James' parents were kind enough to let James use their basement & garage for the building/painting/staining of these projects.  James' Mom also helped out with the finishing touches.

I love the dollhouse bookshelf. If you still have the link to the plans, I would love to have it. Maybe I could convince Matt to attempt it for Izzy's birthday. :)
