Seriously run....
Like running/training for a 5k.
But. I ran this morning with my little man in GoldenWest's 5k, mainly because all the entry fees went back to your school of choice {in our area}. What a great donation/fundraising idea.
Can I tell ya how excited Jordan was to run the race??? He's been sooo excited for the last couple of weeks. It was great too because we got lots of friends & family to come run with us :)
The race went pretty good. When we started out, I had to keep telling Jordan to slow down, knowing that if he ran too hard, he would wear out long before the 3 miles were up. I don't know if what I did could be called running, but I kept to a nice steady jog {which was fantastic because I didn't feel winded or tired at all}. Jordan started wearing down after the mile mark, but with great friends {Thank You Braden boys!} we were able to keep Jordan going. The last mile I could really tell that Jordan was running out of fuel {note to self: bring goodies next time}; I finally caved in and started walking with him, but I made him walk faster to my pace. At some points I had Jordan hold onto my shirt and run with me. By the time we rounded the corner and had Uncle D join us, Jordan-my little trooper- was completely pooped. Uncle D & I took his hands and helped him run that last little bit. We made it to the finish line, with a time of 40 minutes; which I think was great :)
We didn't stay for very long after that, especially since the wind started to pick up making it a little chilly. It took Jordan a couple of hours to return to normal {he just needed a warm bath, a snack, and some powerade}. I'm very proud of my little man because he didn't give up.
Here are some pics from today:
Before the race
Poor Michelle-lee :( She sprained her ankle again, except this time it's caused problems. Her tibia & fibula are trying to separate from the joint so to avoid surgery, she's in a boot.
I can mostly identify everyone's shoe here....
A big hug before we leave for the starting line
I'm thankful for family members that came to watch my kids! Thank You:
Grandparent's Nelson, Aunt Michelle, Grandma Clegg & Kjerstyn.
Jaxson was sad that he couldn't run the race with us, but I knew that his little body would not have made it through. So we compromised. He could run that last little bit to the finish line with various people {namely-Uncle D, Derrick, Mom & Jordan}.
Here's Jordan & I coming in. We really were jogging.
Can you tell how tired he is????
Getting some post game snackage. We were kinda sad because they were passing out donuts but ran out when we got up to the table :(
I tried to get Jordan to smile; it wasn't working.
See you next year :)

That's so awesome! I've been telling people for two years now I can't wait until Gideon is old enough to run with me. He already gets so excited when I race. he likes to pin my number on and run back and 4th in what he calls "a running race." what a fun mommy/son experience.
