Project Downstairs Family Room: Day 1

If you've seen our house, you know that it needs help.  Everything needs to be updated.  Our basement wasn't finished all the way.

We decided after many years, to finally finish the basement.  We're taking out a wall, getting rid of a bedroom, adding doors & carpet, in hopes of having another family/play/tv room.  It makes sense to us to get rid of the wall the previous owners put up & open up the basement downstairs.

We started out this morning by taking out the drywall.  Suprisingly, it went smoothly.  We had to stop though....we ran out of room in our garbage can.  We'll have to wait until we get Allan's trailer, to haul all this junk away.

Here is a before picture:

And here is the after; this is how far we got until the trash can was full.

James then left to go help out his brother {who was moving} and when he returned, he brought his Dad's trailer :)  So after dinner Friday night, we went at it again & were able to take out all the drywall.

When we opened up the wall, we discovered that the vent we thought was cooling/heating the room, actually didn't go anywhere...just straight into the wall.

Here's what it looks like from the stairwell:

And what it looks like from the other side:

And here's another pic of the vent that went nowhere:
