Utah State Fair-2008

So Saturday we went with Grandma & Grandpa Nelson down to the Utah State Fair. It was a nice day and would have been better if James could have made it, but decided to take the time to read and do homework that way he would have time with us later that night.
The first we went into was the building that my Mom works in which is the Home Arts building. The picture below is proof that I entered the State Fair
This next picture is a pic of all the zucchini bread that was entered into the state fair. They are all on the second row. My zucchini bread is the only bread that did not receive a ribbon :( I told my Mom that she should have fancied up the name "Fat-free, Reduced Sugar, Whole Wheat Zucchini Bread"-how's that for a name! Oh well, I'll try again next year, I think I'll even enter in my homemade bread, rolls, and banana bread.
At the fair this year, they had a section about Emergency Preparedness. They had a whole bunch of booths with information on how to be prepared here in Utah. Jordan is pretending to be Wildlife Firefighter.
Also at the State Fair this year was a tiger show. Apparently this was the only time you could see four different shades of Bengal Tiger varying from golden to white. The tigers looked really cool, and it was amazing to watch the interaction between the trainer and the animals. Jordan really enjoyed the show.
This is a picture of Jordan riding the ponies-he's doing it all by himself-such a big boy.
This is Jaxson looking at Jordan riding the ponies. I thought that he probably wouldn't do it this year, so next year kiddo. Another picture of Jaxson, this time Grandpa rescued him from the stroller as we went through the animal buildings. He had a hoot touching the animals-Jordan had to touch all of them.At the State Fair they have this exhibit called, "Helping Hands on the Farm". It's a little course that's suppose to teach children how food gets on our plates. You first get a bucket and fill it up with corn. You then give the corn to the cow, milk the cow, and then put the milk carton in your bucket. This is Jaxson milking the cow.You then went to he apple orchard and picked an apple for your bucket. You then picked up seeds and a spade to plant your garden. Then you walked over to the other side to pick up your produce. Then you packed your produce in a wagon and rode over to the sheep barn.
After picking up wool, you went to the market to sell all your goods, to which you receive money. The kids then get to take their money and get to buy a goody. Jordan chose an apple, and Jaxson bought fruit snacks. This is one of our future farmers. How tall am I compared to a horse?Yeah, I drive a tractor.Jordan taking his picture with Turbo-the walking robot.
We also hit the Circus tent, to which Jordan receive a free ticket to the circus for giving them a goofy face. We sure did have fun at the fair this year.
