The Call

So when the phone rings at 12:30am, there are really only two possibilities of who could be calling. A: It's James' work calling about an emergency; or B: It's a family emergency. Well, early this morning, option B came a calling. My Mom called saying that my Dad had passed out, looking greyish, and that the paramedics were taking him up to Mckay-Dee. I calmly replied that we would be right up there. After I hung up, the tears started flowing because I had no idea what was wrong, and the worst situations were popping into my head. James immediately called Dave up, who quickly came over to stay with Jordan & Jaxson.

We made it up to the hospital just as Austin and my Mom arrived. My Mom and I were the first two that could go back and see my Dad. I collected my feelings, showing a strong front for my mother and father, until we figured out was wrong. Apparently, my Dad had a really bad allergic reaction, was red all over, and his feet, hands and face had swollen up when he was at home. I don't know what caused it, but the doctors pumped him full of benadryll and cortizone. When everything looked like it was going to be ok and James & Tyler had given him a blessing, my Mom scooted everyone home at 2am. She then called us at 3am telling James that they were leaving the hospital. I called this morning see how my Dad was, and my Mom said that he was taking it easy and was suppose to take benadryll throughout today.

As James & I were driving home from the hospital, I told him that I was grateful that all that was wrong was just an allergic reaction. There's heart history problems on my Dad's side, and my Grandpa died from an heart attack when he was only 62. I guess when my Mom called, giving me no information, my thoughts immediately went to worst possible conclusion of heart problems.

I am so grateful for family. I am so very grateful for Dave, I mean we were able to call him in the middle of the night and knew that he would be there for us. I could possibly say that the last 8 days in the Clegg household has been the worst week ever. Hopefully we can now move on, and continue enjoying this Christmas season remembering how important family is to us.

WOw that's scary! I hate middle of the night phone calls for that reason. So who did you run into last week? Now I'm intrigued.
