Kids Movies

So this afternoon, James & I decided that it was now or never to take the boys to go see the movie, "Monsters VS Aliens". We had promised the boys that if they were good, they good earn the right to go see the movie, followed with lunch at McDonalds (because they had the toys). With James' crazy schedule & later movie times, we finally did it because this would have been the last week.
Now Jordan has been super excited about this movie and I was too, but darn't it, I was listening to Glenn Beck this week and a caller had called in to talk about the movie (I think the subject was about finding good and wholesome things for our famlies to enjoy.). Because of the caller, I was very alert during the movie to see if what she said was true. Sure enough, another "kids" movie had inuendos geared towards adults, and as I watched the movie, there were certain scenes that I got, and obviously Jordan wouldn't understand. I also hate how Hollywood politizes kids movies now-a-days. We shouldn't be throwing around political agendas to 4 yr olds.
I mean all in all, the movie was funny, we as a family enjoyed our time together; I just wish they would keep movies simple, and leave all that other crap out.
James & I seem to find ourselves at a turning point, because Jordan is growing up. Jordan hears words, and repeats them not understanding the meaning of the words. James & I find ourselves having to not say certain phrases (like me saying "stupid idiot" at people driving in cars or "oh my gosh"-I guess I say that alot more or he picked it up on tv) because our son is absorbing so much information. Our little children have these little brains that our developing and seem to soak up every little thing. That's why James & I have become more conscious of what we let Jordan & Jaxson watch on TV, because there's alot of crap on tv now-a-days.
It's hard being a parent; there's so much you have to think about in order for your children to grow up and be good and know what good is. But I wouldn't trade it for anything, so I guess I'm up for the challenge.
