Nelson Family Reunion 2009

We had the Nelson Family Reunion this last weekend, and I thought that it turned out really well. It was so much fun to see people and catch and do some really fun things.

Here are some highlights from the gathering:

1. I really liked the rodeo. My Mom got us all tickets to go Thursday night to the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo. I've never been a big fan of rodeos, but I went and have decided that we should make it a tradition and try and go every year. They had a lot of fun events, and maybe Jordan will be Muttin Bustin next year.

2. The Ogden Pioneer Days Parade was the longest parade ever. It's been a couple of years since I've been, but I swear it's never been that long. I think we were there from start to finish for 3 hours. The kids had fun, Jordan enjoyed running out into the street to grab candy and yelling at the pretty ladies telling them, "You're hot". Everyone I think was constantly moving back forth between the shade and the sun. With everyone in the family practically being BYU fans, when Weber State went by, Shane gave them kudos for having Motorcycles, I mean, BYU doesn't have motorcycles :)

3. Everyone looks goofy running around with a hula hoop, trying to keep it swinging while running around the cones. Jordan also knows how to pee on a tree-congratulations buddy, but you really shouldn't be doing it at the Stake park, lets keep that for camping. It's also fun to watch fireworks, and you can always come up with something by putting lots of fireworks together.

4. We should have gone to the river more than once this week. Shane and James went and found some inter-tubes, blew them up, and us cousins were able to float down the Weber River. I personally didn't go, probably because James said people kept falling out over the rapids & I decided to be careful because I am five months pregnant. We had found a swimming hole, and I stayed with the little kids and watched them play in the water. I think everyone had a fun time floating down the river.

5. You can do so much better playing Bowling on the Wii than in real life. We did a bowling tournament on the Wii, followed by ski jumping (orchestrated and helped by Jordan), and some other games Saturday night.

6. James made some really good Dutch Oven Cobblers-I think we ate both pots. Sunday we had family dinner, followed by family business, and memories of Grandpa Nelson. I think us grandkids enjoyed the memories that our parents had of their Dad. The sad thing was none of us Grandkids could remember anything of him because he passed away when we were younger.

7. I had such an awesome time seeing people I haven't seen in awhile. I also had fun chatting with relatives that I do see more than once a year.

8. I have such awesome cousins. Cami, Andrea, Rich, and Shara all kept Jaxson entertained. They never turned him away, even when he started playing ruff. I think I almost got Jaxson to say Cami, which is a big thing considering he's still barely talking.

9. I can't wait to get together again in 2 years-Louisiana here we come!
