So my brain & my hands do tricky things sometimes. For Stake Conference this Septempter, the Stake President has asked the primary to sing a prelude of "As I have Loved You" in both English & Spanish. The last couple of weeks, the kids have been learning the words to the song in Spanish. My brain is learning that I have to look at the page & not at the piano.
Let me explain.
This primary song was one the first songs I ever learned out of the book & I think the very first that I had memorized. I memorized it by remembering how my fingers looked as each one touched the key. Whenever I have played the primary song version (because it's different in the hymn book, because it's a different key, & I'm fine playing it) I automatically look at the piano & start playing from there & not from the book (you're suppose to look at the music & let your fingers do the playing). I'm having to rearrange that thinking now. The spanish version has extra notes, so I kinda need to look at the page in order to play it right. I guess I'm kinda lucky that I don't have to actually play in Stake Conference, but it would be nice to actually play it right in Primary.
