Thanksgiving was so great this year.
This year, Thanksgiving was with my family {Nelson's}, but since all the other Clegg's were going to be spending Thanksgiving with they're in-laws as well, we invited Suzanne & Allan {and Dave} over to my parent's house for dinner. I think the smart thing that we did was divy up the cooking assignments. At least at my house, it was nice to not have dirty dishes all over the place.
James & I made:
Turkey-which was absolutely delicious & moist. If you've never brined your turkey before, you should do it next year. I think we converted James' Mom into making her turkeys this way.
Watergate Salad-wouldn't be Thanksgiving without it
Cranberry Sauce-decided that since Paul & Phil weren't around {they complained about not having the canned stuff a couple of years ago when I made it} I would make the real thing. So yummy.....I've never put cranberry sauce on my turkey before & I love it.
Pies.....Pumpkin {of course}, Lemon Meringue {of course}, Cranberry-Apple Streusel {so yummy!}, and Chocolate Cream Pie {homemade...no instant pudding}
My Mom made her fabulous rolls, gravy and stuffing.
Suzanne brought some snacks & the mashed potatoes.
And the best part was, throwing all the dishes into the dishwasher so we could chat and watch football. It was so much fun hanging out with Dave & Michelle {we haven't done that in awhile}; and of course our parents.
I then let the kids stay up late....more selfish on my part because I wanted to sleep in because I was going to Wal-mart at midnight. Do you there are some crazzzy people that go Black friday shopping?? Let's just say, "overdramatic".
With Thanksgiving done now, I now can focus on Christmas. I always love putting up the Christmas stuff....it gets me in the mood. I turned on the Christmas music today & if we weren't going to Idaho today, I would have put up the Christmas tree. We'll have to save that for Monday.
