Nelson Family Reunion 2011: Louisiana Style-Day 6

Beignets, Plantations & New Orleans.  That was the agenda Monday.

We started off our day like a person really should; with powdered sugar-fried-fluffy-goodness, also known as beignets.

I ate 3 1/2 of those babies, and if you know me, you know that I don't like fried foods, so I was very impressed that I ate my whole order...plus some.

One of the cool things about this place is that they have a pond out back with some gators.  So off course we had to go check it out.

We then loaded up in the cars and headed to the Houmas Plantation.

Quite spectacular.

Left: Beautiful woodwork; Right: Dueling Pistols

Left: Music Box; Right: Staircase

Left: Vampire Kit; Right: Canopy over one of the beds

Left:  In order to bring coolness, the line of Oak trees would basically act as an air conditioner, bringing cool breezes from the Mississippi.  Right:  The birthing bench

The kids did quite well.  Well, almost well.  Madison had her moments.

Madison's "Cheese" smile.

After our tour of the plantation house, we loaded up again and headed down towards New Orleans.  We drove right pass the Superdome.  Woohoo.  I took a picture of this street sign because neither James nor I had any idea how to say it:

Our first stop in New Orleans was the Market Cafe for lunch.  I decided to try out a Po Boy; James, a Muffalata.

After lunch, we walked around the market place where tourist goods could be found.  This is where we found our two small Real gator heads.  James was excited to find some {and for a good price at that}.  We then walked around the French Quarter.

Jaxson decided that he was done.  We had to put his legs up like that because he's too tall and his feet kept falling down and dragging.

Thanks to a good impromptu tri-pod {the stroller} & my self-timer, we were able to get a group picture of everyone that attended the reunion.

After New Orleans, we headed back to Uncle Arnolds house for some visting and a Fried Chicken dinner {courtesty of Mister KFC himself}.
