Nelson Family Reunion 2011: Louisiana Style-Day 7

Tuesday, Uncle Arnold took us out to LSU.  LSU is a big thing down in Louisiana, just like BYU & the Utes are to Utah.  There were LSU things everywhere.

We were able to go see Uncle Arnolds office:

Outside, they have Mike the tiger.  We got closer to a tiger at a college stadium than at Hogle Zoo.

After LSU, we hung out at Uncle Arnolds house for the afternoon.  But for dinner, we got to something special.

One of the things that James wanted to do while down south was try some gator.  So, Tawnya & Shane took us to a fun Cajun Restaurant.  Outside in the back, they had a huge turtle pond.

I don't think that I've seen so many turtles in one place.

For appetizers, we ordered up some Boudin balls & grilled gator.  The Boudin was spicy & delicious, and the gator was awesome {especially with the sauce they served with it}.  Who would have known that I would like gator.  Oh yes, and fried Boudin is on my top list of fried foods I like :)

I decided to get the Fried Gator & James got the Fried Catfish {to which we shared with each other}.  I also got some Crawfish Etouffee.  Along with those items, my dish came with Cajun Rice {wasn't that spectacular} and Corn Maque Choux {delicious}.  To say that I stuffed my face was an understatement-so much good food.

The restaurant had a dance floor, which kept the kids entertained for periods of time.

After filling my tummy with yummy food, we headed back & put the kids to bed.  When the kids were asleep, James & I snuck away and went for a walk around Tawnya's neighborhood.  It was nice to walk around without the hot sun beating down on you.
