Good bye ACL

Tuesday afternoon, James & I headed over to Davis Hospital Outpatient unit to have my ACL replaced.  This was the first time I've ever had surgery {because I don't count my C-sections}, and yes...I was a wee bit nervous.

Once getting checked in & gowned up, we spent the next hour & a half waiting for my turn to go in.

When it was my turn, they wheeled me down to the Operating room, and got me ready.  The anesthesiologist put in a femoral block, which was kind of interesting, here's why.  They had to insert a needle with an electrode & cause my leg to spasm, thus knowing where to put the block.  Once that was done, the mask went over  my face, and that was that.  I woke up 15 minutes after I had been wheeled into recovery.

Doctor said that everything went great.  My ACL was completely torn and was stuck in my knee {hence why I couldn't bend it}.  My Meniscus wasn't as bad as they thought.  The graph went in great for my new ACL.

I've now got this huge hinged brace.  I'm suppose to be able to get my knee bent to 90 degrees by the time I see the doc for my follow-up.  Right now, I can get it to maybe 30 degrees.

I woke up from the surgery feeling good, and after taking some pain pills, they released me to go home.  But of course, we couldn't go straight home, I hadn't had anything to eat for almost 24 hours, so we stopped by Holy Smoke to pick up some yummy food.

I've been doing good the last two days.  Not much I can do, but sit & be patient....which is totally getting bored.  I'm excited to take a shower tomorrow.  Very excited.

So yep.  That's whats happening in our neck of the woods.
