First Days of School, Wicked, and other Happenings

Oh wow....look at that.  I have a quiet house right now.  Yep, school is in full session right now, and Madison still takes naps in the afternoon....whatever am I going to do with myself.

Last Wednesday, Jordan started the 2nd grade.  He was so excited to start school, and is having a great time so far.  Jordan has a fairly new teacher, Mrs. Forsey, who we found out is married to a boy whose family James grew up with.  She seems pretty awesome, so we're excited to see Jordan's growth over the year.  When we went in for his assessment, we found out that his reading is great, but to help him along, we were suggested to ask him questions.  So when you see Jordan, ask him what's happening in his book.

With the kitchen still out of order, I've had to be creative in the cooking department.  Thankfully, we got a grill with the extra burner on the side, which we have used in making pasta & other dishes.  But for the first day of school, I wanted to try something I had found off of pinterest-hot dog egg rolls.  I know....sounds interesting huh?  I marinated the hot dogs in soy sauce all day, and then wrapped them up in egg roll wrappers & cooked them out on the grill.  I thought they tasted pretty good, especially with the dipping sauce I made to go along with it.  James didn't like it as much; he thought they needed some veggies or something.

This was just a goofy moment we were having that night,

Saturday, we dropped the kids off at the Nelson household, and James & I headed done to Salt Lake.  We sort of had a mini Franson reunion.  We met of with James' family for dinner at the Little America Coffee shop.  It was quite delicious.  After dinner, we walked over to the Capitol Theater to go watch, "Wicked".  It was great to see the show, and I'm glad that I was able to go see it with my cute hubby :)

Yesterday, Jaxson started his first day of Kindergarten.  We weren't sure he was going to make it (he wasn't feeling so good Tuesday), but after a blessing from Daddy & Grandpa & a good nights sleep, Jaxson woke up ready to go.
Jaxson has the same teacher Jordan had for Kindergarten.  We love Mrs. Oregon, and are so glad he'll get to learn wonderful things from her.  Jaxson also got lucky this year & has a lot of friends from our ward & preschool.  It was fun to see him & his little friends line up together to go into the classroom.

Madison had to wear her backpack yesterday morning, plus she wanted me to take her picture....posing like this:

Our three kiddos:

Jaxson went to school like a champ.  I will be honest, all though I didn't cry, I was on the verge of tearing up as we hit the school.  It's such an amazing thing to see your kids hit these important milestones in their lives.  As we said goodbye to Jaxson and started heading home, Madison decided to have a meltdown.  I think she thought that it was her turn to go to school, and started crying as we walked home.  Luckily she calmed down once we got home.

I'm still working on the kitchen, but other than that, I'm trying to find productive activities to fill my time.
