I think we got out of Amarillo by 4:45 am Central Time, so...pretty dang early for me ;)
We were able to watch the sunrise over the plains {which I forgot to take pictures of}. So beautiful to watch the skys go from a dark night, to a twilight, to the orangy-red hues of the sun.
We made it to the Dallas area around 10 am & took a little 1/2 hr break at Sam's Club-because that's how we roll. The kids needed to stretch their legs out, and why not do that at a store.
As we made it through past Dallas, the view of our drive changed from flat plains to views of tree lined highways.
Once we made it into Louisiana, Jordan was on the lookout for gators. Although we didn't see any gators on the side of the road, we did see smooshed up armadillos , possums, and even a snake.
We made it to Tawnya & Shane's house in good time, and it only took the kids a couple of minutes to warm up to their cousins. I think the deal was sealed when the kids found their playroom. It took a bit for all the kids to get to sleep that night, because they were so excited.
