Nelson Family Reunion 2011: Louisiana Style-Day 3

After getting a very good night's sleep {Joseph's bed had a memory foam pad on it}, we all got to accompany Tawnya & her kids to a pool party at Shane's parent's house.

Once we got to the house & James took a look {and walk} around the property, he was hooked.  He decided that we needed to move down there.  Although beautiful, I don't think I could handle the heat.

The boys had a blast jumping off of the diving board.

I'm realizing more and more that it was good thing to have two boys together.  Having a brother is an awesome thing, especially when you don't know anyone.  If you've got your brother, you've got a friend.

Madison and Caroline didn't want to swim, so they just hung out with us adults.  It was here that I first started realizing how the humidity was affecting Madi's curls.

Yes.  I'm white.  But it's not just me.  It's a family thing.  I acknowledge my whiteness :)

After some lunch, and a scare with Jaxson forgetting his arm floaties {jumped into the pool without them-luckily there were bigger kids to fish him out}, the boys got more friendly with the other kids there & participated in the games.

I love Jordan's form.

After the pool party, we went back to the house for nap times.  James was able to go with Shane to go pick up that night's dinner.

That night we went over to Uncle Arnolds house for the start of the reunion.  I was able to meet Leann and her & Craig's kids, as well as Vicki's husband Stan.  It didn't take long for the boys to start playing with their cousins.  And Madison???  Well she went from Aunts to Uncles & Grandmas & Grandpas; that girl kept herself entertained.

That night for dinner we had a Crawfish boil.  Since it was our first time, James & I need to be initiated into the club.  We had to stick our fists into the bottom of the tub of crawfish.

Shane gave us a lesson first.

It was pretty cool, and I'm glad that I did it.

Oh...you should have been there to smell all the delicious aromas.

Crawfish, corn, sausage, red potatoes, garlic, lemons, and seasonings.  Yummy.

Shane then told us how to eat the crawfish, which was helpful for me because I've never really had shellfish.  We also had to suck the head of at least one crawfish.

Don't worry.  I did eat more that this.  They say that you make 3-4 lbs of crawfish for each person.

After dinner, Aunt Kathy brought out some bubbles for the kids to play with.

And for dessert we had some yummy Strawberry cake {because it was my Dad's birthday}

That night, the kids went to bed pretty well because of the next day's activities.....
